Tax Equalization
Purpose
The purpose of the Tax Equalization Board is to provide an open forum for a property owner to appeal their property value(s) before a board comprised of citizens such as realtors, appraisers, community leaders, etc. The Tax Equalization Board is the next step for property owners to take when they are unable to reach a satisfactory resolution to their property value with the Assessor's Office. The Tax Equalization Board will hear the evidence of the case from the property owner and a representative from the Assessor's Office. After the hearing the board will mail its written decision to both sides. Either side will have the right to appeal to the Administrative Law Court if they disagree with the board’s decision.
