ADMINISTRATIVE TECHNICIAN I (Animal Control): Performs routine administrative/clerical duties in support of the Beaufort County Animal Shelter & Control Division. Provides information to the public regarding shelter operation, animal control services and adoptions. Will periodically do some lifting and carrying of animals, cages or equipment.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate or GED 
  • College level coursework or vocational training in general office work and personal computer operations
  • One year clerical experience
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be comfortable around dogs, cats and other animals 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required.

SALARY:  $11.44 hr.

LIFEGUARD (Part Time): Under direct supervision, responsible for public safety in all areas of pool operation and assisting in teaching swimming lessons for Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Life guard training: must possess and maintain valid Certified Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications from the American Red Cross
  • Copies of the above certifications MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION. Applications without them will not be considered.
  • Six months life guarding experience preferred
  • Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required

QUALITY ASSURANCE COORDINATOR:  Under supervision of the Executive Director, the coordinator is responsible for quality assurance for all program areas of the Beaufort County Disabilities & Special Needs Department.  Performs generally diverse duties which include review of all written records of the more than 500 consumers served, assuring recording meets all SCDDSN compliance standards, all DHEC standards, all licensing standards, and that the needs of all consumers are coordinated through all program areas.  Performs both a quality and quantity assessment of services and the training staff.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university  with four years experience working with mental retardation or related disabilities and two years of program management
  • OR a Baccalaureate degree in a human services field with four years experience working with mental retardation or related disabilities and three years in a program management capacity with a diverse work background.
  • A valid driver’s license with no DUI convictions within the last 5 years.
  • Background check will be conducted on all applicants considered for this position.

RECREATION LEADER: Under general supervision provides general support for recreational programs and activities. Oversees and assigns work to recreation aids. Assists in conducting, coordinating and monitoring various programs and activities and the use of recreational facilities. Supervises and monitors individuals/groups using recreation facilities or participating in recreational programs. Transports clients to and from recreational centers/events/activities.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. CDL license preferred.

  • Willing to work evenings and weekends

  • Associate’s Degree in parks and recreation or related field preferred

  • Certified Leisure Associate (CLA) preferred 

  • Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required

 

OPEN UNTIL 2/19/2010.  

SALARY: $10.74 hr.
