Corridor Review Board
CORRIDOR OVERLAY DISTRICT
The primary ordinance directives for the Corridor Overlay District are:
- To protect, enhance and preserve the character of the natural and historic landscape;
- Promote the vernacular architectural characteristics of Beaufort County; and
- To ensure development vocabulary and continuity adjacent to the Beaufort County Overlay District highway corridors.
In order to accomplish these directives, the Corridor Review Board (CRB), working cooperatively with the applicant, directs development site and architectural design in order to facilitate the fundamental vernacular and characteristic principles of quality and functional architecture and site design. The preservation of vernacular characteristics related to architecture, site and landscape design will safeguard Beaufort County's sense of place and character, enhance property values and frame investment.
