Beaufort County’s government consists of several sectors working together to implement the Council’s directives and make sure Beaufort County government functions properly to support those living here.

The County Council and its corresponding committees meet and pass policy, which the County Administrator is responsible for carrying out. The Finance Department manages and reports the County’s multi-million-dollar budget to ensure tax dollars are spent correctly. The Purchasing Department manages the County’s purchasing and contracts. Another department integral to the County’s smooth functioning is Employee Services; this department recruits new employees, manages worker benefits, payroll, etc.
