Beaufort County has 44 different departments, each with a different mission. Included under the County umbrella are departments such as the Airports, Animal Shelter and Control, the Assessor, County Council, the Courts, the Detention Center, Emergency Management, Finance, Libraries, Mosquito Control, Parks and Leisure Services, Public Works, Solid Waste and Recycling, Veterans Affairs and Zoning, among many others.
The departments are broken down into seven sections on the Website – Administration, Public Service, Public Safety, Technology, Libraries and Education, Legal and Courts and Transportation. This differs from the organizational structure.
