Boards and Commissions
Your County government has a greater day-to-day impact on the lives of the citizens of Beaufort County than any other governing body. Our population is expected to increase to about 205,000 by the year 2025. The responsibilities of government is to anticipate, fund and provide the expected service for this growth are enormous and involve planned and orderly growth, an effective transportation and road system, cost-effective delivery of County services, a financially sound County government, and a strong sustainable local economy. The members of Beaufort County Council recognize these responsibilities and we seek the input and help of all citizens through the County's boards, agencies, commission and authorities. We welcome your input and ideas, and thank you for serving your County.
Cordially,
D. Paul Sommerville, Chairman
Beaufort County Council
In 2012, nearly 200 citizens volunteered an estimated 5,478 hours of their time to Beaufort County government.
