What we do

The Risk Management Department

  • Insures all property and equipment owned by the County
  • Administers the Workers’ Compensation program for the County
  • Processes insurance claims related to County property, equipment and Workers’ Compensation
  • Maintains all Workers’ Compensation, property, vehicle, equipment, aviation, liability insurance claim records for the County
  • Facilitates monthly Safety Committee meetings
  • Provides defensive driving training for County employees
  • Works closely with all departments to correct hazards in the workplace

It is the goal of this department to be proactive in preventing accidents and unsafe conditions for the employees of Beaufort County and reducing hazardous conditions to our citizens.  The Risk Manager manages claims processes and serves as a liaison between employees, the legal staff, the Workers’ Compensation insurance carrier, and the State Budget and Control’s Office of Insurance Reserve Fund.
