  • Residents can check their voter registration status and polling location by contacting the Beaufort County Voter Registration and Elections Department at 843-255-6900, or at the South Carolina Election Commission website at www.scvotes.org
  • There are two types of property taxes in Beaufort County – real and personal. Tax payments are handled by the Treasurer’s Office. Information about property appraisals and assessments should be directed to the Assessor’s Office.
  • Homestead exemption provides property tax relief to residents who are older than 65, are blind or are disabled and have been a legal resident of South Carolina for at least one year. It was passed by the South Carolina General Assembly in 1972. For more information, contact the Auditor’s Office at 843-255-2500.
  • To ensure Beaufort County’s residents are prepared in the event of a disaster, a Post Disaster Assistance Manual, evacuation maps and flood protection information are available for residents. Additional information can be found within the Emergency Management Department.
